Anna Jane Shook, the daughter of Susannah and Jonathan Shook, passed into the arms of

Jesus on October 19, 2026. She was born on Mothers Day, May 9, 2010, at Forrest General

Hospital, in Hattiesburg Mississippi. Her journey was unique from the start as she was born with

unexpected differences that led to her diagnosis of Cornelia deLange Syndrome (CDLS). CDLS

is a genetic condition that causes delayed growth and development, feeding problems, and a

variety of other struggles. Despite her physical limitations, Anna embraced life with her whole

heart, and made a beautiful thing of being alive.

During her 16 years, Anna touched the lives of many. Her spirit was sweet and happy, her smile

heartwarming. Throughout her life she enjoyed time spent at Thames Elementary, The ARC

(Arc Southeast Mississippi), Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp, Longleaf Elementary and Pediatrust

Day Care for Medically Fragile Children. She loved her siblings and her dogs, and she also

enjoyed time with her in-home nurses from Sunrise Healthcare who provided excellent care

during her last couple of years. Her family would also like to recognize Elizabeth “Liz” Patterson

(deceased) and her daughter Yancy Mackbee (deceased) who both loved and cared for Anna in

a truly special way during the early part of her life.

In addition to her parents, Anna is survived by three loving siblings: Meredith Caroline Shook,

Paul Wesley Shook, and Audrey Merrill Shook. Other survivors include her grandparents: Merrill

and Robert Fallis, Joe and Cindy Meng, Linda and David Ward, Charles Shook (deceased), and

great grandmother Marjorie Meng. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who

loved her very much.

Services are Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Heritage Church, 3 Baracuda Drive, Hattiesburg,

Mississippi 39402. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM with celebration of life at 3:00 PM. A family

burial will follow at the cemetery at Pinehaven Funeral Home.
